Kim Potgieter - Director and Head of Life Planning

Beliefs

Kim’s vision is to change the way people view retirement in South Africa. She strongly believes that retirement should be seen as a new life chapter, encouraging her clients at Chartered Wealth Solutions to retire to something and not from something. Retirement is thus new exciting phase of life which could involve new challenges and discoveries. Kim is writing a book to help her reach her vision and has led the team in establishing one of South Africa’s first retirement lifestyle website www.retiresuccessfully.co.za.

Qualifications

Kim is a qualified financial planner with a special interest in Financial Life Planning.  She has found her niche specialising in retirement.  She has always been fascinated by the relationship between psychology and money and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ® so that she could combine her two passions: studying the relationship people have with money and advising people on how to get the most out of retirement.

She is also a director and co-founder of the Financial Life Planning Institute (FLPI) in South Africa. Kim has studied with the Kinder Institute in the US and is one of only two Registered Life Planners in South Africa.  This is in addition to her Bachelor’s Degree (Industrial and Clinical Psychology) from the University of Natal.  She is currently working towards her International Coaching accreditation qualification.

Kim is frequently asked to write about Financial Life Planning in journals such as The Financial Planner and has also made several appearances on Summit TV.  Kim runs Retirement Preparation workshops for corporate clients, and advises clients on what she believes defines a successful retirement.

Kim is well respected within the financial services industry as a creative thinker who is exceptionally well-read on international trends within Retirement Life Planning.  This enables her to bring a fresh global perspective to conventional financial planning methodology.
